I want a job at a local used car dealership

But I have no idea if they're hiring. The owner lives in my neighborhood, so I could just go talk to him, but I don't know what I should say. Any ideas?

ask for career opportunities, job openings, are you hiring, stuff like that. They are used to the question and I promise they won't laugh at you, haha. Knowing someone that works there can help, would it be easy to visit him at the dealership? It probably shows the most initiative that way. People don't say "it's all about who you know" for nothing, use it to your advantage, while not overstepping any bounds.

Go talk to him. What's the worst he can say, go away? The best opportunities are found outside the standard application/interview process.

I pestered my current boss (same company, different division/department/unit) for about four months before he agreed to give me a chance. I know over 500 people applied for the same thing so that's gotta count for something

cars come in to the service drive, you park them and bring the keys to the service adviser. Customer comes in to pick up their car from service, you go get it. Deliver cars for the salesmen. Basically move the cars around.
